Helloooo,

Oh yes don’t you think I forgot because I really did not. Today we’re having a very quick look at a very extraordinary species:

The Termite.

(ooooooh) (ahhhhhhh)

More specifically, we’re going to have a quick look at the Queen. I know we’re familiar with the idea that the queen of an insect colony is a bit bigger than the rest of her workers but I don’t know if you’re ready to see just HOW MAHOOSIVE SHE IS.

THAT IS LITERALLY SOMEONE"S HAND CAN YOU SEE HOW GINORMOUS SHE IS@!>@>!?!

Ridonkulous I know.

So this crazy looking lady is essentially an egg laying machine. As you might be able to tell from her TEENY TINY BODY sticking out the top of her MASSIVE EGG-LAYING ABDOMEN she can’t really move or do anything or feed herself. She is totally and 100% dependent on her workers to bring her snacks and care for her and make sure her eggs get fertilised and all that good stuff.

Speaking of, she will lay approximately 30,000 EGGS EVERY SINGLE DAY.

This corresponds to 164 MILLION EGGSthroughout her FIFTEEN YEAR lifespan

Wow. What an absolute Queen.
